State rep, residents collaborate to gather funds for Sungai Semenyih bund repair

SHAH ALAM, Dec 22 — The state constituency of Sungai Ramal has successfully collected RM36,000 in funds for the repair and widening of the Sungai Semenyih bund in Kampung Bangi.

Its state assemblyman Mazwan Johar said the funds were collected from several sources, including a RM10,000 contribution from Masjid Kariah Bangi, RM6,000 from Kampung Bangi residents and the remaining RM20,000 from his office’s allocation.

“The Sungai Ramal state constituency and Kampung Bangi residents agreed to collect the funds. Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), we managed to repair and widen the river’s bund.

“I thank the residents for their willingness to contribute, InsyaAllah (God willing) with this repair, we hope Kampung Bangi will no longer be affected by floods in the future,” he told SelangorKini yesterday.

Mazwan added that before this, Kampung Bangi commonly faced floods due to the low bund which was unable to retain water.

“Thus far, it has rained heavily twice here, and we have determined the repaired bunds have been able to prevent water from flooding the village.

“Yet, the bund’s durability may not last for very long but will strengthen it with trees or grass,” he said.
