Selangor hopes to organise beauty, aesthetics expos to lift the industry to better heights

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 10 — The state government intends to organise the Selangor International Beauty and Aesthetics Expo to raise the industry to a higher level.

State executive councillor for trade and industry Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said they are discussing with industry players since Selangor has no experience in this aspect.

“I see that there is a very good opportunity if we can use this platform (expo) to further develop the beauty and aesthetics industry.

“For Selangor, we do not yet have experience and knowledge in this field. Of course there is room for us to discuss in addition to looking at the possibility of holding the expo,” he said when met after witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Clara International Beauty Group (CIBG) and Japan’s Slim Beauty House at Menara Kuala Lumpur, here today.

The development of an academy as well as training and beauty skills MOU was signed by Clara International Founder and Chairman Professor Datin Dr Clara Chee while Slim Beauty was represented by Founder and Chief Executive Officer Saiko Nishizaka.

Teng added that the state government welcomes the cooperation of the parties involved in strengthening their position as beauty industry advocates and is ready to provide appropriate support if needed.

“The collaboration between these two leading companies is great. So far, they have not needed any support from the state government but if required we will see how we can help,” he said.

Meanwhile, the chief executive officer of Clara International Dr Woo Wee Kang said the training programme is offered to Japanese students who are interested in pursuing the Comite International d’Esthetique et de Cosmetologie (Cidesco) diploma in spa and beauty therapy.

He said the students involved will follow a blended learning system involving three months of virtual theory classes which are expected to start in the first quarter of this year.

“After completing the theory classes, they have to undergo an interview or an online assessment test. Eligible candidates will continue their practical studies at Clara International Education, Kuala Lumpur.

“Students will also be awarded the Cidesco Diploma and Clara’s international certification which would help increase job marketability,” said the CEO.
