SHAH ALAM, Jan 8 — The number of tourists in Selangor is expected to increase to more than 3.5 million in 2023 compared to 3.3 million last year, said state executive councillor for tourism Hee Loy Sian.

He said among the locations that will attract tourists are the Splash Mania water theme park in Gamuda Cove and cruise tours through the Port Klang Cruise Terminal.

“In addition, there is also a focus on ecotourism segments such as the Gombak-Hulu Langat Geopark which consists of 20 geosites in Gombak and Hulu Langat such as Batu Arang, Batu Caves and agrotourism such as Selangor Fruit Valley.

“This state has many interesting locations to visit with family and friends, and is not limited to urban areas only,” he told SelangorKini.

Hee added, in order to attract tourists, packages based on local communities will be widely marketed because it is the latest trend.

When presenting the 2023 Selangor Budget, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that a total of RM6 million had been set aside to empower the state’s tourism industry.

He said that two tourism promotion campaigns have been implemented, namely ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu!’ for the domestic market and ‘Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere’ for the international market.

In fact, the 2023 Selangor Global Tourism Convention mega event continues with the concept of traders to customers through an allocation of RM1 million.
