SHAH ALAM, Feb 8 — Applications for public and private institutes of higher education tuition assistance for B40 Indian students are open from today until February 24.
Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) through an announcement by the state government standing committee said that the aid offers a maximum fee payment of up to RM5,000 for bachelor’s degrees and diplomas (maximum up to RM3,000).
“Applications are open to Selangor citizens of Indian descent who are born or have been a resident for at least 15 years in Selangor.
“Applicants must be studying at public institutions of higher learning (IPTA) or private institutions of higher learning (IPTS) in Malaysia that are recognised by the government,” it said on Facebook.
Yawas said other eligibility requirements include a household income of no more than RM2,000 per month.
“The payment method is a one-time payment by cheque or bank transfer to an account (EFT) in the name of the Treasurer of IPTA/IPTS,” he said.
Application forms can be found at the state executive councillor’s office for Social Welfare, Employees and Caring Government, 5th Floor, Selangor State Secretariat Building, Shah Alam.
