Sultan of Selangor wants UPM to produce more doctors, health experts

SERDANG, Feb 28 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj decrees Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to produce more doctors and professional medical officers to meet current needs.

Along with the rebranding of UPM Teaching Hospital to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital (HSAAS), His Royal Highness hoped that the hospital would act as a specialist training centre for medical and health science officers from Malaysia and abroad.

“I pray that all the efforts carried out by UPM will continue for the development of this hospital, so that it can produce more doctors or professional medical officers.

“With the increase in population in Malaysia, the need to add more doctors and medical experts is very necessary.

“Therefore, I hope that UPM can take this opportunity to contribute to the best health services for the community,” he said, after inaugurating the rebranded hospital, here today.

Also present were Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

Sultan Sharafuddin also instructed HSAAS to provide and offer the best health services to the people.

“In accordance with this hospital being named after my late father, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, who was the first chancellor of UPM, I hope that his passion and appreciation for helping the people can be implemented in the management of this hospital.

“We must put the interests of the people first and try to give our best. Trustworthy, honesty, discipline, customer-friendly and ever ready to serve needs to be appreciated when providing services,” he said.
