SHAH ALAM, March 10 — The Shah Alam City Council’s (MBSA) pavilion with the concept of ‘Memoirs of Shah Alam’ won third place at the 2023 Kuala Lumpur Garden Festival yesterday.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari congratulated MBSA on the outstanding achievement.
“Congratulations to MBSA on achieving third place at the KL Garden Festival competition. The prize was presented by the Prime Minister.
“Hopefully, this will be a catalyst for more outstanding achievements for MBSA. Well done!” he said on Twitter.
Meanwhile, MBSA’s Corporate and Public Relations head Shahrin Ahmad said the landscape department chose the concept to tell the story of the beginning of Shah Alam around 1963.
He said Shah Alam, which started as a oil palm plantation and became the administrative centre of the state government, was translated through photographic elements that are hung throughout the pavilion.
“In addition, we use various types of orchid landscapes that symbolise the identity of Shah Alam as an orchid city.
“MBSA also used waste materials that can be recycled such as PVC pipes, pieces of cut wood and galvanised wire as the main design,” he said.
MBSA beat 13 other local authorities from all over the country and took home RM2,000 in cash, trophies and certificates.
The prize was presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
