AMK machinery’s preparation for state polls more than 60 pct complete

BUKIT MERTAJAM, April 17 — Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) has mobilised its machinery for the upcoming elections in six states, with its level of preparedness having reached more than 60 per cent.

Its chief, Adam Adli Abdul Halim, said AMK also has no problem working with the youth wings of Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties such as Umno, MCA and MIC.

“Actually, AMK has been making preparations for the state elections for the past two months and we have conducted meetings involving (representatives from) all six states.

“In the meeting, we identified the needs for the state elections and now is the time for AMK to implement them,” he told reporters after opening the Penang AMK office and launching the Penang AMK election machinery, here last night.

Meanwhile, Adam Adli said AMK aims to have 30 per cent of its members selected as candidates for the state elections.

However, he said AMK does not want to put pressure on the party leadership with regard to the selection of candidates.

“Our machinery always supports whoever is selected to be the candidate…but we must produce winnable candidates, that’s the important thing, and so far we haven’t discussed it yet,” he said.

On the cooperation with the youth wings of other parties under the Unity Government, he said the matter is still being discussed.
