Bukit Gasing rep preps e-scooter subsidy, encourages more to use

By Diana Abd Wahab

SHAH ALAM, April 17 — The Bukit Gasing state constituency is offering a RM20 subsidy for new electric scooter (e-scooters) users in its area.

Its state assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran said the subsidy means consumers will only pay RM69 in the first month, in contrast to the original cost of RM89 per month.

“We are offering a subsidy until May 31, so new users can try this service for a month.

“Asides from Kumpool (a van e-call service), we hope this initiative will encourage those travelling to Petaling Jaya from Subang Jaya and Shah Alam and areas within the range of the light rail transit (LRT) and rapid transit (MRT) system to use public transport, even if their offices are located over a kilometre from the nearest LRT/MRT station,” he said in a Facebook post.

Rajiv said the Oogya app can be downloaded to use the monthly pass for the e-scooter service in Petaling Jaya, particularly at the Taman Jaya and Asia Jaya LRT stations.

Prior to this, Bukit Gasing, Subang Jaya and Bukit Tunku state constituencies councils offered van e-call services via the Kumpool Ride app in their respective areas.

Kumpool Ride was introduced to alleviate traffic congestion and parking, at a rate of RM1 for easier, convenient, and safer transport access daily from 8am to 8pm.

It encompasses over 200 stops including bus stations, LRT stations, and dense residential areas.
