According to the Department of Environment’s (DOE) Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management (APIMS) website, it recorded an API of 69 at 9am today.

Nearly all districts across Selangor are recording an API of between 51 to 100, which is a moderate level.

In East Malaysia, Sarawak’s areas with good API readings include Samarahan (49), Serian (36), Sarikei (43), Sibu (39), Kapit (42), and Limbang (44).

For Sabah, they are Kimanis (32), Keningau (45), Tawau (37), dan Sandakan (29).

API readings between 0 to 50 are categorized as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and 300 and above as dangerous.

Yesterday, Petaling Jaya was the only area which recorded an unhealthy situation with an API reading of 115.

Previously, Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad was reported as saying that Malaysia is expected to experience prolonged hot weather until August, in the wake of the monsoon transition season.
