KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 — The national women’s cricket squad started their SEA Games campaign on the right footing by defeating Singapore in the first round of the Ten10 (T10) event in Cambodia today.
In the match at the AZ Group Cricket Oval, Hun Sen Boulevard in Phnom Penh, the Malaysians scored 38 runs against Singapore’s 37 runs.
The win will motivate the squad for their next match against Thailand on May 7 in the round-robin competition.
In the T10 contest, the 15-member national squad have been drawn with Thailand and Singapore in Group A while for the Twenty20 (T20) event Malaysia are in Group A with Thailand, the Philippines and Myanmar.
In the 50-overs contest, Malaysia have been drawn with Thailand and Myanmar in Group A.
