KLANG, April 30 — Three Jelajah Kita Selangor Aidilfitri open house events will feature dishes prepared by local residents in a gotong-royong effort.
The programme, popularly known as rewang sekampung, takes place in the Klang district today. Other districts include Sabak Bernam and Gombak on May 12 and May 14, respectively.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the three locations will prepare traditional and popular dishes from their areas, for guests to enjoy.
“As with Klang today, we prepared the Javanese dish lontong, alongside several other dishes including lemang, ketupat, satay, and rendang.
“It is interesting to note these three programmes will also have special guests. Tonight, the Sultan of Selangor is scheduled to attend, while the Deputy Prime Minister will attend the open house in Sabak Bernam, and the Prime Minister in Gombak,” he said.
Earlier on, Amirudin and his wife Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad participated in the rewang programme, at Dewan Taman Seri Kerayong in Kapar.
Jelajah Kita Selangor Aidilfitri began on Friday (April 28), and took place at Taman Awam Hulu Bernam in Hulu Selangor yesterday.
It will continue on May 5 at Tapak Agora Night Market in Taman Sri Nanding, Hulu Langat, and then move on to Sungai Buloh’s pasar malam site in Petaling on May 6, and to Taman Perwira Sijangkang in Kuala Langat on May 7.
Other locations include Dataran Tanah Lesen in Parit Baru, Sabak Bernam on May 12, Padang Awam Bukit Badong in Kuala Selangor on May 13, and finally at Uptown Sri Gombak on May 14.
