PETALING JAYA, May 10 — State-owned investment arm Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI is one of the agencies which play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of Selangor’s agenda, as formulated in the First Selangor Plan (RS-1).

Its corporate services division head Daud Abd Rahman said the five-year plan focuses on four cores, which include strengthening the economy, increasing social well-being, driving sustainability, and strengthening governance.

“RS-1 is a guide for the direction and development of a holistic state policy, so as to drive Selangor’s economic and social growth.

“The first core is economic strengthening, which is led by MBI. One of our main roles is to further augment Selangor’s status as the heart of economic growth.

“MBI also plays a role in ensuring the state is the main destination for quality investment in Malaysia and across the Asian region. The focus is on nine main sectors, including aerospace and the digital economy,” he said.

Daud was speaking at MBI’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri event with media practitioners and was joined by MBI subsidiaries including Media Selangor, KDEB Waste Management, Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd, and Tourism Selangor.

On August 2 last year, the State Legislative Assembly approved the RS-1 2021 – 2025 development project proposal, worth RM212.44 billion.

The plan serves to build strong resilience for Selangor in facing future challenges, in an increasingly complex environment.

It also takes into account the comprehensive implementation of policies, projects and initiatives between the state and Federal governments, while not discarding the ongoing 12th Malaysia Plan which has an impact on Selangor.

Meanwhile, commenting on today’s event, he said it is a sign of appreciation to the media for their constant support of MBI.

“Much of the news coverage provided by media partners has been most helpful in terms of delivering information to Malaysians, especially to target groups.

“We hope the close cooperation between MBI and media partners can be maintained and continued in the future,” Daud said.
