SHAH ALAM, May 1 — A total of 167kg of electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) has been successfully collected by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ).
The local authority said it is in conjunction with the e-waste collection programme organised by the MPAJ Environmental Health Department, at Kompleks Muhibbah Taman Nirwana Ampang on April 29.
“E-waste consists of electrical and electronic goods that have been damaged, do not work, or are otherwise old or obsolete. If e-waste is recycled, the earth is preserved.
“Let us all shoulder the responsibility of preserving the environment,” it said on Facebook.
Throughout last year, MPAJ managed to collect 12 tonnes of e-waste via MPAJ Environment Day competition, which saw 47 communities including primary and secondary school students participate from April to December.
