SUBANG JAYA, May 5 — More than RM1 million has been spent throughout the current State Legislative Assembly’s term on the welfare and well-being of the Seri Serdang state constituency’s residents.
Its state assemblyman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said she has done her utmost best upon being elected to office to ensure the people, especially those in need, receive the appropriate assistance.
“It is not only limited to state government programmes, but we have also held several additional programmes, particularly those involving education. They include the RM500 assistance for students entering university.
“Other forms of assistance include the RM1,000 provided to residents who experienced (natural) disasters. Village heads, nazirs, and imams have helped a lot in channelling this aid,” she said.
Dr Siti Mariah was speaking at the Seri Serdang Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house yesterday, which took place at Dataran Niaga Puchong Permai.
Also in attendance were Puchong MP Yeo Bin Yin, and Subang Jaya Deputy Mayor Mohd Zulkarnain Che Ali.
At present, Selangor has welfare programmes encompassing all aspects needed by the people, via Iltizam Selangor Penyayang.
Commencing in 2008 after the present administration took power, the state government prepared seven initial programmes under the theme of Merakyatkan Ekonomi Negeri.
This was expanded to 43 programs via Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat in 2017, after which coordination was carried out to make 33 grants available in 2019.
