Selangor allocates RM100,000 to help 20 welfare homes with overhead costs

HULU LANGAT, May 25 — The state government has allocated RM100,000 to help 20 selected welfare homes in covering the operating costs of their respective care centres.

State executive councillor for social welfare V Ganabatirau said the funds were channelled via the Selangor Santuni Pusat Kebajikan Masyarakat programme for 2023.

“The grants consist of a RM5,000 allocation for each selected welfare home in Selangor. As such, a total of RM100,000 has been set aside for 20 care centres.

“The state government realizes the cost of operating these care centres is on the rise, and through the Standing Committee on Social Welfare this programme was enacted. We hope this assistance can cover the needs of the centres to a certain extent,” he said.

Ganabatirau was speaking at the officiation of the programme’s allocation ceremony, at Pusat Jagaan Mahmudah earlier today.

During the ceremony, 20 centres received their allocation grants via the Santuni Pusat Kebajikan Masyarakat 2023, in cooperation with Angkatan Belia Malaysia (ABM).

The councillor said he hopes the programme will be maintained, so the state government’s agenda of empowering welfare homes can continue.

“We implemented it as the state government rules on the basis of welfare, so I hope the programme stays on,” he said.
