SHAH ALAM, May 7 — A number of road paving operations totalling RM50 million will be carried out concurrently on Selangor’s damaged roads in two weeks.

State executive councillor for infrastructure and public amenities Ir Izham Hashim said that the work, which is anticipated to take two months, involves more than 20 contractors.

“The initiative will concentrate on roads that are in poor conditions and don’t get much attention, and it has been given an additional budget of RM50 million.

“Priority will also be given to roads suggested by local authorities, district councils and the Public Works Department (JKR),” he said when met at the Pandan Indan Aidilfitri open house in Kampung Pandan Dalam, here last night.

According to Izham, the number of road paving work varies per district and is depending on the reports submitted.

On January 16, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that a massive road paving project involving the repair and widening of state-maintained roads.

The Menteri Besar also urged people to use the Twitter app to report incidents of road damage in their neighbourhoods by sending photos and complaints by including the hashtags #infrasel #daerah and #namajalan.

Between 2021 and last year, more than 39,000 road paving projects were completed by the state-owned road maintenance company Infrasel Sdn Bhd (Infrasel).

All the potholes were fixed within 24 hours after a public complaint is lodged.
