GOMBAK, May 15 — The final location of the Jelajah Kita Selangor Aidilfitri (JKSA) held in Kawasan Komersial Fasa 3 in Taman Seri Gombak, here, last night, has evoked nostalgia for Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said that the same location served as the platform for the “Grand Finale” in the 12th general election (GE12) campaign before the change in the state administration of Selangor in 2008.

“This location reminds us of the nostalgia of 2008, where (Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a ‘Grand Finale’ that sparked a significant change in Selangor.

“InsyaAllah (God willing), with God’s permission and our determination together, we will retain it (the administration) in the upcoming state election,” he said when speaking at the Gombak district’s JKSA open house programme, here last night.

Previously, in the 2008 general polls, the Pakatan Rakyat coalition formed the government in Selangor after winning 36 seats against Barisan Nasional, which only obtained 20 seats.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said that following the warm reception from the people, the state government plan to make the Hari Raya open house series in each district an annual state programme.

“This proposal depends on the circumstances. InsyaAllah (God willing), we will assess its feasibility to make it an annual programme. In fact, the idea for JKSA came up since last year,” he said at a press conference after the event.

Attended by more than 35,000 visitors, the event, held together with the Malaysia Madani Aidilfitri Open House, was enlivened by the presence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

A total of 29 stalls were provided, with more than 42 delicacies, including lemang daun lerek, ketupat, rendang, satay, roasted lamb, various types of kuih-muih, fruits, and drinks.

The guests were also entertained by performances from famous artists Dato’ M Nasir, Dayang Nurfaizah, and Pija Mentor.
