100 including Sukma athletes participate in MPAJ mountain biking championship

SHAH ALAM, June 29 — A total of 100 participants tested their abilities in the Cabaran XCO AU2 mountain biking championship, organised by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) on June 24.

Jointly organised with Fun D Cycle Point, the event took place at the AU2 Mountain Bike (MTB) track in Taman Keramat and is aimed at supporting participants’ interest in mountain biking sports.

MPAJ’s public relations and secretariat division said the championship also serves as a platform for mountain biking athletes to further hone their talents.

“The event was also held to diversify the health activities organised by the council while optimizing the facilities provided at the MTB track.

“It managed to garner the attention of many Malaysian Games (Sukma) athletes, making it a platform to nurture more national sports talents, especially for mountain biking,” it said in a statement.

The championship featured eight categories, where the winners of the first to fifth places in for category received cash prizes between RM10 to RM500.

Participant Afiq Zafran emerged as the champion in the Boys Under 12 category, while Fariha Afina (MSN Terengganu), Daeing Rauzan Putra (Singapore), and Sheikh Harith (Awey Pedal Team) won in the Girls Under 12, Boys Under 15, and Boys Under 18 categories, respectively.

Muhd Zukri Mohd Tahir (Awey Padel Speed Factory) emerged as the champion in the Men’s Master A category, followed by Muhd Edham (Amaniz), Nur Assyira Zainal, and Riyadh Hakim Lukman (Singapore) who won in the Men’s Master B, Women’s Open (Elite), and Men’s Open (Elite) categories, respectively.
