KUALA LANGAT, June 24 — Up to 25,000 families in the Tanjung Sepat state constituency have benefitted from over 30 discount affordable sales programmes organised in the area, starting in January until this month.
Its community service centre welfare officer Mohd Reza Dollah Sajat said three additional sales programmes will be held next month.
“We try to to have the sales at least thrice weekly, to provide opportunities for residents to purchase goods at affordable prices,” he said.
Mohd Reza was speaking to SelangorKini at the Jualan Mega Ehsan Rahmah Aidiladha programme for the Sepang parliamentary constituency, at Pantai Batu Laut earlier today.
Visitors to the sales programme began lining up as early as 8am, to obtain a queue number for their purchases.
“Most of them have previously attended other discount sale programmes, so they are prepared to arrive early even though the counter only opens at 10 am,” he said.
Organised by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), the programme offers standard chicken for RM10 per chicken, frozen solid beef (RM10 per pack), Grade B eggs (RM10 per tray), mackerel fish (RM6 per pack), 5kg cooking oil (RM25), and 5kg rice (RM10).
In conjunction with the festive period, Jualan Mega Rahmah Aidiladha is being held, which offers more basic necessities, including 12,000 chickens and 6,000 trays of eggs.
It is scheduled to take place at six locations today and Sunday (June 25).
The festive discount sale offers prices that are 30 per cent lower than the market average, to assist low-income residents in saving money.
