LPHS surpasses initial target, 34,000 homes delivered so far

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, June 27 — The Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) has surpassed its initial target of building 30,000 units of affordable homes, six months ahead of schedule.

Its senior assistant director Mohd Faizal Abd Kadir said as of June 15, a total of 34,190 units have been completed and handed over to buyers, while 18,021 more are currently undergoing construction.

“Our success in constructing so many affordable homes to the point of surpassing our initial target of 30,000 units proves the good cooperation between LPHS and developers.

“As a result, we are adjusting our target of 30,000 units this year by increasing it to 60,000 units by 2025,” he said when contacted.

Faizal added that a total of 175,486 housing units are currently in the construction planning process and awaiting development approval by the state’s technical departments and agencies.

Introduced in 2014, the Rumah Selangorku project is targeted at low and medium income earners, with houses being offered at not more than RM250,000.

The public can check their eligibility and file their applications via https://www.rumahselangorku.app/.

Meanwhile, Faizal said LPHS plans to develop more affordable homes on privately-owned lands to cater to the high public demand, noting that applications for such properties in the state currently stands at over 92,000.

He said for this reason, LPHS has identified several locations for the construction of Rumah Idaman and Harapan homes, namely Alam Impian and Glenmarie in Shah Alam, and Pulai Meranti and Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi in Sepang.

“We realise that the demand for affordable homes far exceeds existing supply. In fact, the waiting list is very long.

“LPHS is proactive in implementing housing projects by requesting the state government to grant land rights and premium payments have also been made.”
