Permatang rep publishes book on successes of women entrepreneurs

SHAH ALAM, June 17 — The accomplishments of several women entrepreneurs via the state government’s initiatives inspired Permatang state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin to publish her book 9 Wanita Inspirasi Permatang.

She said these nine women symbolise the Permatang state constituency, as they are recipients of state government assistance including Dana Usahawan Mikro Selangor (DUMS), Hijrah Selangor, Blueprint, and i-Seed.

“Many women have successfully improved their economic status and become entrepreneurs. They are community exemplars, where the effort to improve one’s self via the use of provided assistance can transform and enhance livelihoods,” Rozana said when contacted.

She added the idea behind the book’s publication is to serve as a guide for the public to become entrepreneurs as well.

“I produced this book so the public can view these women as role models and examples. It is also to encourage them to utilise the assistance provided by the state government to develop their businesses, whether on a small scale or otherwise.

“It will be sold as well as placed in libraries under the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) as reading material for visitors,” Rozana said.

During 9 Wanita Inspirasi Permatang’s launch, the assemblyman said its publication would not have been possible without the support and collaboration from Universiti Selangor (Unisel)’s team.

They include its Institute of Electoral Studies and Democracy Promotion fellow Ng Ming Yip, Associate Professor Hamdan Mohd Salleh, Universiti Islam Selangor Graduate Studies Center director Hairol Anuar Mak Din, and Muhammad Hariz Hamdan.
