Tourism Selangor in a statement today said domestic tourism in the state has recorded a consistent achievement in the travel industry, with 38.9 per cent of domestic tourism spending being contributed by shopping activities in Selangor.
“Tourism is one of the largest industries in Malaysia, contributing RM 197.9 billion to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2021.
“With Selangor taking the lead since the pandemic, the state managed to increase domestic tourists by 33.4 per cent in 2022.

Pusing Selangor Dulu!’,” it said, adding that the campaign includes partnerships with industry players such as hotel operators, tourism agencies, airlines, educational institutions and retail industries.
Tourism Selangor added the state will remain consistent in attracting tourists and has recorded an increase of 15.3 per cent in tourist arrival for the first quarter of 2023.
It said Selangor is aiming for an increase of 5.04 million domestic and international tourists by the end of 2023.
