MB: 80 pct of road issues resolved by Infrasel

By Sofia Nasir

SHAH ALAM, July 21 — Over 80 per cent of road issues in Selangor have been resolved by the state government via Infrasel Sdn Bhd, according to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said since its establishment two years ago, the maintenance agency has received hundreds of monthly reports on road damages, the majority of which have since been fixed.

“On average, we gather between 600 and 700 complaints each month from the community, through social media and other means.

“Over 80 per cent of them have been resolved. There are those that we repaved, while  others were handed over to the respective local authorities,” he told Selangorkini after visiting Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd’s (KSSB) office at Menara Bank Rakyat here today.

Also present were state Deputy Secretary (Development) Datuk Johary Anuar, Selangor Public Works Department director Lokman Nasir and KSSB chief executive officer and managing director Abdul Rahman Ishak.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said close to 40 per cent of the ongoing road resurfacing works statewide that began in May have been completed according to schedule.

The remainder of the project is expected to be concluded by next month, he added.

“At the local government level, we have achieved 73 per cent. However, at the district and land office level, the rate is still low at around 11 per cent.”

Previously, state executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim had said that the massive resurfacing works of damaged roads in nine districts in the state would cover a total distance of 94.9km.

Specifically, the works involve 66 roads in district of Petaling, followed by Klang (39), Gombak (29), Hulu Langat (27), Sepang (19), Sabak Bernam (17), Kuala Langat (16), Kuala Selangor (11) and Hulu Selangor (eight).
