KUANTAN, July 18 — The RM10 Madani combo pack of one type of fish and three bundles of vegetables was the biggest attraction at the Agro Madani Sales programme organised by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) here yesterday.
Every customer at the sale, held from 3pm to 9pm, said it was the best purchase they had made, adding they were also given a free jar of Agromas pineapple jam.
“Usually, three bundles of vegetables can cost up to RM8, so this promotion is a fantastic deal,” health worker Mohd Riduan Mohd Azmi, 39, from Pantai Damai told Bernama.
“Everything looks really fresh and it is cheap. We can never get this price at the market,” said another customer, Maizurah Mustafa, 38.
Retired civil servant Sufian Rahmat, 63, from Taman Tas, said he found out about the Agro Madani Sales programme through Facebook and rushed to buy the combo.
Pahang Fama deputy operations director Shabuddin Mohd Noor said the programme will be held at 11 other locations in the state this month.
The programme, held in collaboration with the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia and the Farmers’ Organisation Authority, aims to help lower the cost of living, especially for the B40 group.
“The farmers sell their products directly to consumers at 10 to 30 per cent lower than market prices. One of the main attractions here is the Madani combo, which was sold for RM10, down from RM15,” he said.
He said 100 combo packs were sold within an hour and a half.
