Selangor channels RM20 mln to repaint strata, low-cost housing in all state constituencies

PETALING JAYA, July 19 — RM20 million has been earmarked by the state government to repaint ageing and faded strata and low-cost housing units.

State executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail said the allocation, under the Projek Selangor Penyayang (PSP) initiative, has since been distributed to all 56 state constituencies, since the start of this year.

“Through PSP, we are repainting areas that have been very worn out over a long period of time. We began carrying out the works at the beginning of the year, with some areas already completed in places like Port Klang, while others are in progress in Shah Alam and Sepang.

“At least one area in each state constituency is being refurbished, with a particular focus on repainting. It is not limited to the People’s Housing Programme (PPR), but also includes low-cost houses,” she said.

Rodziah was speaking to the press during the visit to PPR Kota Damansara with Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming to inaugurate the project for the elevators’ replacement yesterday.

The project provides 12 new elevators as replacements in four blocks of PPR Kota Damansara, at a cost of RM3.7 million.

Alongside this, community spaces were also established, with the guardrails on the hill slope and signboards refurbished, which was carried out through corporate social responsibility contributions from strategic partners and agencies under the ministry.
