SHAH ALAM, July 29 — Selangor Pakatan Harapan is optimistic it will be able to secure a two-thirds majority, thus defending the existing administration.

Its chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that based on observations made every three months, public support for the state government remains firm.

“Up until now, I am still confident we will win with a two-thirds majority in Selangor. Before the nomination, we faced weekly attacks and in response, intensified our outreach,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking to the press during the handover ceremony for official state government vehicles under the 14th Selangor State Legislative Assembly, at the State Secretariat Building yesterday.

Today is the nomination day for candidates in the state elections for Selangor elections and five other states, with the polling day on August 12.

Selangor’s election will see candidates contend for 56 state seats, 40 in Penang, 36 in Negeri Sembilan, 36 in Kedah, 45 in Kelantan, and 32 in Terengganu.
