State polls: Harapan candidate’s drive to develop Ijok as affordable housing nexus, digital economy hub

KUALA SELANGOR, July 30 — Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for Ijok is keen on developing the state constituency into an affordable and family-friendly residential location with various amenities.

Amidi Abdul Manan said the increasing population density in areas like Shah Alam, Ampang, and Petaling Jaya has had the effect of bringing localities like Ijok into sharper focus, particularly for newlywed couples.

“As I see it, Ijok has the potential to progress. Development in the area ought to prioritise its family-friendly aspect, as it is clear that many residents from Ampang, Petaling Jaya, and Shah Alam are moving in, searching for a more comfortable place to live.

“So, I believe maintaining this sense of tranquillity is essential for Ijok’s community and its living environment. Simultaneously, we should not overlook development and economic issues which need to go hand-in-hand,” he said.

Amidi, a former Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement president, was speaking to SelangorKini during the Ziarah Kasih programme at Kampung Bukit Badong, earlier today.

He added that comprehensive Internet coverage is another issue he is concerned about since better access is fundamental in transforming Ijok into a digital economy hub.

“Ijok has the potential to become a digital economy hub, given its strategic location. The impact of development and its proximity to Puncak Alam are among the key factors for this.

“As such, residents should seize the opportunity in improving the local economy,” Amidi said.
