Take state govt’s track record into account when casting your vote, state rep tells voters

By Fhatihah Zakinan

SHAH ALAM, July 1 – Sungai Ramal state assemblyman Mazwan Johar has called for the voters in his constituency to cast their ballot based on his performance in serving the people during his five-year term.

He said the voters should also take into account the overall track record of the state government in introducing various welfare initiatives under the leadership of Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

“Given my track record, I am not worried about being compared to others, despite reports that the opposing party may nominate a former lawmaker as their candidate.

“I urge the people to evaluate and compare the track records of the candidates. I have no problem with that as long as it is done fairly and respectfully,” he told SelangorKini.

Mazwan said even before the formation of the Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) coalition state government, he had implemented various programmes to assist the people that were on a smaller scale, such as Pasar Ehsan Rakyat, which was later expanded and known as the current Jualan Ehsan Rahmah affordable sales programme.

“Even before 2018, when I was not part of the state administration, we organised Pasar Ehsan Rakyat to help the people.

“We gathered and sold goods at lower prices, although not as cheap as the current sales. We have been working on this for a long time, and now that we are in the government, we can do it on a larger scale,” he said.

On June 23, the 14th Selangor State Legislative Assembly was officially dissolved to make way for the state election.

Selangor is one of six states that will go to the polls in the next 60 days, alongside Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
