PUTRAJAYA, Aug 15 — DAP’s exceptional showing in the state polls shows the Malay electorate has accepted the party, which has had to deal with negative perceptions, said party vice-chairman Nga Kor Ming.
DAP won 46 of the 47 seats it contested in Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Selangor and Kedah.
“Before this, DAP was plagued with various fake stories, but the people can now see the party’s commitment… This puts the party in a positive light,” said Nga, who said winning Sungai Pelek in Selangor was the sweetest victory as 60 per cent of the constituents are Malay.
Nga, who is also Local Government Development Minister, in a press conference after the prelaunch of the 2023 KPKT Excellence Award Ceremony in Putrajaya, said the success shows cooperation among unity government parties is on the right track.
“This is a good start considering the DAP-Umno alliance has only existed for eight months… Give time for the unity government to be strong and stable,” he said.
DAP achieved a 97.9 per cent success rate in Saturday’s state polls.
