KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — National powerlifting ace and world record-holder Bonnie Bunyau Gustin swept the World Para Powerlifting Championships in Dubai yesterday when he broke his own record in the men’s 72kg category.

Bonnie, who started with a massive 210kg first attempt, added 10kg more in the next round before hitting the new world record of 231kg.

The record was a second one for Bonnie, as he had lifted 230kg at the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Fazza, Dubai on June 11, 2021.

After day two of the competition, China are on top with four medals (three gold, one silver), followed by Britain, Vietnam and Malaysia with one gold each.
