SHAH ALAM, Aug 28 — More than 100 local and foreign exhibitors are expected to take part in the third edition of the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS), which will be held from September 7 to 9.

Invest Selangor Bhd chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari said among the countries that have confirmed their participation are the United States, France, Denmark, Germany, Czech Republic and Australia.

“We expect 114 exhibitors will participate in SAS 2023. This is almost double the figure from last year,” he said when contacted.

Hasan said the Malaysia Sports Aviation Federation has also invited several countries from the region to join the Asian Sports Aviation Summit, which will be held in conjunction with SAS 2023.

Among them are Iran, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.

Additionally, Hasan said 25 aviation companies will be involved in the Careers Open Day and Carnival in an effort to further develop the aerospace industry.

“These exhibitors are renowned companies in the aviation industry. They include firms that provide services such as commercial flights, air transportation, airline maintenance and component supplies.

“During the show, these companies will also offer advice to guests on going for job interviews, including providing communications training and tips on early preparations.”

SAS, which was first held in 2021, is part of the Selangor government’s effort to encourage growth in the state’s aerospace industry, besides helping local companies and small and medium enterprises explore the high-value industry.

In March, former executive councillor for investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the state is targeting a potential investment of RM2 billion for this year’s iteration, themed “The One and Only Business and General Aviation Show in the Region”.

Last year’s SAS, which was held from September 8 to 10, recorded a potential transaction value of RM1.174 billion, while the figure for the first edition in 2021 was RM100 million.
