AMPANG JAYA, Aug 26 — The state government is committed to ensuring strata housing residents can enjoy a comfortable and conducive living environment.

Newly-appointed state executive councillor for housing Borhan Aman Shah said the state government organises various beneficial programmes yearly to ensure this can be realised.

They include educational initiatives, assistance and repair schemes, and several support programmes to facilitate daily management.

“The first is the educational programme, which is carried out in collaboration between the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) and the Building Commissioner’s Office (COB).

“In addition, the repair programme under the Ceria scheme has been carried out since 2011, with a total allocation of RM123.7 million for 2023 alone,” he said.

Borhan was speaking at an awards ceremony for Ampang Jaya’s cleanest and most beautiful strata housing in 2023, at Jelatek yesterday.

He added the state government is offering a replacement and installation programme for Light Emitting Diode (LED) or solar lighting systems, via the Green Building Towards Urban Well-being Initiative.

This programme can help save electricity and reduce monthly electricity bills for buildings in the long term.

“One must meet several criteria, for the programme. Joint Management Bodies that are interested may apply with LPHS, the COB office, or at their respective local authorities,” Borhan said.

In July last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the First Selangor Plan includes a focus on achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The five-year development plan involves government and private strata residential buildings, office buildings, hospitals, schools, colleges, universities, stadiums, markets, shopping centres, and factories.
