Stable govt vital to strengthen economy, encourage investors’ confidence — MB

HULU LANGAT, Aug 10 — A government’s political stability is crucial in strengthening the country in various aspects, especially economically, and to attract foreign investors.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said a mutual relationship between the state and Federal government would also lead Malaysia’s administration in the right direction.

“Stability was achieved after the general election (on November 19 last year). Presenting the Budget, forming a Unity Government, and the first six months of this year saw a 60 per cent surge in high-value new investments.

“This has been driven by foreign investors’ confidence in a stable government. We will not falter or collapse, but instead will remain for the next five years,” he said in his speech yesterday night.

Prior to this, Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said Malaysia’s investment momentum, which has been moving from strength to strength since the first quarter of this year, is expected to continue growing in the second quarter.

He added the country received approximately RM71.4 billion in investments, spread across various economic sectors, a 60 per cent increase compared to the RM44.7 billion recorded in the same quarter last year.

On July 27, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the Ekonomi Madani initiative to revive the nation’s economy, which is expected to bring prosperity to the people.

Its framework sets seven key indicators as medium-term goals which the government aims to achieve over a 10-year period.
