Taiwanese innovation, Malaysian market advantages boost bilateral trade

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 — Taiwan’s innovation and research capabilities, combined with Malaysia’s market advantages, have created a valuable synergy that will continue to evolve, thrive, and grow the economic and trade ties between countries.

In a statement today, the director of the economic division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, James Chang, said he believed such exchange events would spark more collaborations between Taiwan and Malaysia, especially in digital trade.

He said this during the ‘Taiwan-Malaysia Digital Trade and e-Commerce Exchange Seminar’, which was held in conjunction with the Taiwan Expo 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre recently.

The seminar attracted representatives from more than 80 Malaysian enterprises, while the vibrant post-event networking session opened up numerous opportunities for Taiwan-Malaysia collaborations.

Meanwhile, Institute for Information Industry deputy director Jose Cheng said Taiwan has placed significant importance on its collaborations with Southeast Asia in recent years, particularly in the fields of information and communication technology and digital trade.

“Taiwan has numerous mature and successful achievements in these areas and is enthusiastic about partnering with rapidly developing and business-friendly countries in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand and Malaysia, to jointly expand market opportunities,” he said.

According to Techtrans Advanced Sdn Bhd (Taiwan Excellence), the seminar was a resounding success and attracted participation from various sectors in Malaysia, including e-commerce operators, influencers, brand representatives, product marketers, platform managers and system tool promoters.

Clearsoft Tech chief operating officer Rita Wang, Bravos Ideas Digital brand and public relations vice-general manager Natalie Kao and Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping were also present at the event.
