KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — Deputy Communications and Digital Minister Teo Nie Ching said 5,724 sites were developed by Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) and 68.8 per cent of populated areas have been equipped with 5G coverage as of August 31.
She said the implementation of 5G services is actively being carried out nationwide by DNB.
“The government, through the Communications and Digital Ministry and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, are actively implementing the National Digital Interconnection Plan (Jendela) to provide better internet access in populated areas in cities and rural and interior areas,” said Teo.
Until the second quarter of 2023, 1,996 new communication towers were completed and operational out of the planned 3,830.
She said 96.96 per cent of populated areas have 4G coverage.
