Malaysia welcomes Saudi statement on resolving Yemen conflict

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 22 — Malaysia welcomes the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement on September 14 about resolving the conflict in Yemen.

The declaration is a step in the right path toward building a lasting peace and a viable political settlement that is acceptable to all sides and also contains an invitation to a delegation from Sana’a, Yemen, to visit the Kingdom.

“Malaysia commends the efforts led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, and the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, to end the crisis in the country.

“This would certainly contribute towards peace, security, and stability in the region,” said a statement issued by the Malaysian Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra).

On September 14, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that Saudi Arabia invited Yemen’s Houthi delegation to Riyadh to continue ceasefire talks.

“The kingdom wanted to resume its and Oman’s efforts to reach a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen and a sustainable political solution acceptable to all Yemeni parties,” SPA added.
