PLATS launches digital entrepreneur training programme

SHAH ALAM, Sept 5 — Platform Selangor (PLATS) has introduced its Entrepreneur Development Training (U-PLATS) to help entrepreneurs go digital.

Menteri Besar Inc (MBI) head operations officer Saipolyazan M. Yusop said 360 entrepreneurs will benefit from the agency’s programme, supervised by 12 local authorities.

Saipolyazan said under U-PLATS, entrepreneurs will learn three training modules in three months according to the local council’s turn-based system from this month until March 2024.

“The modules offered are an introduction to entrepreneurship, social media and e-trading, and digital content creation.

“Monitoring will be done for a year on online sales, digital presence and digital connections. Five entrepreneurs have the opportunity to win a business grant,” he said when met after the briefing session for U-PLATS yesterday at Hotel Mardhiyyah, Seksyen 14, Shah Alam.

Also in attendance was Entrepreneurship Empowerment and Creative Economy Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi.

Najwan said entrepreneurs must grab the chance to gain knowledge of the new economy and capitalise on digital business.

“Through this programme, entrepreneurs are given training and input on how to adapt to the digital economy. PLATS has been around since 2020 and continues efforts to help traders via U-PLATS.

“Traders must diversify their approach from conventional to digital (not brick-and-mortar) and only need to register with local councils to do business,” he said.
