Sidec introduces training prog to help entrepreneurs reach RM1 mln in sales

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Sept 1 — The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) has introduced an e-commerce training and mentoring programme, which will involve 30 selected companies.

Its e-commerce executive Mohamad Khairul Ikhwan Mohamad Saufi said the first cohort of the Selangor EC Xccelarator programme will start on September 9, with the selected companies undergoing three months of free intensive training.

Differing from the Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP), the companies identified for Selangor EC Xccelarator come from the sectors of food and beverage, fashion and lifestyle, beauty and health, education and learning, and residential space.

“The mechanism of this new programme is similar to SAP, which is three months of training and mentoring, but we are open to companies that have already marketed their products on e-commerce platforms.

“In addition to obtaining funding from investors, we aim to grow their sales to at least reach RM1 million in addition to one million orders (products marketed),” he said when contacted.

Mohamad Khairul Ikhwan added that Selangor EC Xccelarator, which will be launched on September 5, is a continuation of the Malaysia Top e-Commerce Merchant Awards (Top ECM), with participants who complete their training to receive recognition.

Last year, Top ECM showed a 25.3 per cent increase compared to 2021 sales, totalling RM47 million and approximately 358,609 orders.

All participating e-commerce traders are evaluated based on online sales contests (50 per cent), live streaming contests (25 per cent), and business potential (25 per cent).
