KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a RM1 million initial fund for the Malaysian Youth Council Alumni Foundation.
The proposed establishment of the foundation, which aims to safeguard the welfare and recognise the services and deeds of former youth figures, was conveyed to him by the Malaysian Youth Council Alumni president, Datuk Seri Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.
Speaking at the Malaysian Youth Council Alumni dinner at the World Trade Centre tonight, he recalled the establishment of the Malaysian Youth Council (MBM), sparked by the outcry of young people demanding change.
Anwar said under the leadership of Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh and her deputy Adam Adli Abdul Halim, there is a willingness to discuss programmes for youths, some of which can be implemented with the cooperation of youth organisations in the country.
He called for cooperation from youth organisations nationwide to join forces to convey a clear message to young people, especially the aspect of nationhood and the noble values that are the spirit of Malaysia Madani.
The Prime Minister also called for cooperation from other departments and ministries to provide space and facilities for former youth leaders to get involved in entrepreneurship and business.
