SAN FRANCISO, Oct 26 — US toymaker Mattel revealed earnings for the third quarter that decreased from the same period last year but beat analysts’ estimates, reported dpa news.
The company’s bottom line totalled US$146.3 million, or $0.41 per share. This compares with US$289.9 million, or US$0.80 per share, in last year’s third quarter.
Excluding items, Mattel Inc. reported adjusted earnings of US$1.08 per share for the period. Analysts on average had expected the company to earn US$0.86 per share. Analysts’ estimates typically exclude special items.
The company’s revenue for the quarter rose 9.1 per cent to US$1.92 billion from US$1.76 billion last year.
