SHAH ALAM, Oct 6 — The midnight solid waste cleaning operations will be expanded to several more commercial areas in Selangor, said KDEB Waste Management managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir.

This decision comes after the successful midnight waste collection operations in the commercial areas of SS14 and SS15 in Subang Jaya.

“We have conducted waste collection (from midnight until early morning) in Subang Jaya. They proved to be a success as commercial areas are usually crowded with cars in the morning, making cleaning work difficult.

“As such, we are now looking to expand to several other commercial areas, especially in Klang, Shah Alam, and Petaling Jaya.

“If it proves to be easier and more effective, we will not rule out the possibility of changing the schedule soon,” he said during a press conference at the Shah Alam Convention Center today.

On September 13, Ramli said the midnight to early morning cleaning was implemented in SS14 and SS15, Subang Jaya, following a proposal from its state assemblyman Michelle Ng Mei Sze.

Previously, contractors found it hard to carry out their duties in cleaning the areas from morning until noon, as the roads were congested with vehicles.
