Gaza hospital airstrike a ‘massacre’, says Doctors Without Borders

ATHENS, Oct 18 — The Israeli airstrike on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza on Tuesday amounted to “a massacre”, said Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

“We are horrified by the recent Israeli bombing of Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, which treated patients and hosted displaced Gazans. Hundreds of people have reportedly been killed. It is absolutely unacceptable,” the medical charity stated on X, according to a report by Anadolu Agency.

Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) also condemned the attack.

Emphasizing that hospitals must be protected under international humanitarian law, it asserted on X, “No patient should be killed in a hospital bed. No doctors should lose their lives while trying to save others.”

Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said over 500 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the hospital. Footage on social media depicted bodies scattered across the hospital grounds.

An Anadolu reporter noted that thousands of Palestinians were at the hospital when the building came under bombardment.
