SHAH ALAM, Oct 31 — A compactor truck driver with KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has lodged a police report after he was assaulted and issued a death threat by an unidentified man while on duty last Sunday.

KDEBWM said the report was lodged at the Sungai Besar police station after the staffer suffered injury to his head and hands.

In a statement, KDEBWM’s media and public relations department said the incident happened around 9.30am on Sunday when the driver was conducting his rounds at the Pekan Sungai Besar, Sabak Bernam.

“Based on our check, the incident happened after our driver honked at an individual in a bid to get him to move his vehicle, which was blocking the road the compactor truck was on.

“However, this had enraged the individual, who went on to assault the KDEBWM driver using a wooden stick. He also attacked using a steering wheel lock and issued a death threat to the driver.”

The state’s waste collection agency said the case is being investigated under Section 324 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or mean and criminal intimidation respectively.

“We leave it up to the police to take the necessary action,” it said.

KDEBWM also urged the public to always cooperate with its personnel, particularly in relation to routes utilised by its compactor trucks, to ensure waste collections are done smoothly and based on schedule.

Yesterday, a 45-second video of the incident went viral on social media. A man in black top and grey pants driving a white SUV could be seen climbing on the driver’s side of the compactor truck before hitting the KDEBWM personnel multiple times with an unidentified object.
