SHAH ALAM, Oct 6 – The Selangor Industrial Park Expo (Spark) will be among the notable features at this year’s Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), which is slated to kick off on October 19.

Invest Selangor Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris said this key regional gathering for industry professionals has seen a record-breaking early engagement, drawing exhibitors from across Southeast Asia.

“Spark made its debut in 2021 with a focus on domestic participants. However, due to its soaring popularity, we have expanded its reach to international countries,” he said.

“This edition promises broader participation, with all Malaysian states on board, complemented by four Southeast Asian nations, namely Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

“We’ve reserved two entire exhibition halls specifically for this segment,” he said.

Hasan said preparations for SIBS 2023, which will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, have been progressing seamlessly.

He expressed confidence in achieving a footfall of 50,000 visitors during the four-day summit, culminating on October 22.

“With an optimistic outlook, Invest Selangor projects that this year’s summit could potentially garner sales figures of up to RM1.5 billion.

“Beyond Spark, the food and beverage segment, branded as the Selangor International Expo, is also anticipated to be a significant draw for attendees,” he said.

Introduced back in 2017, SIBS has seen consistent growth.

Last year’s edition, which boasted 623 exhibitors, saw an impressive turnout of 44,342 visitors. The summit spotlighted six main events, including the Selangor International Expos for both Food and Beverage and Medical sectors.

Other key highlights comprised the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Expo, the Selangor Research and Development and Innovation Expo, and the esteemed Asian Business Conference.
