State has no intention of charging visitors to historic buildings

SHAH ALAM, Oct 8 — Selangor does not intend to charge visitors who visit historical buildings gazetted by the State Government, said state executive councillor for housing and culture Borhan Aman Shah.

Borhan added that only the Museum of Traditional Games in Kuala Selangor charged RM3 per person from last June due to the high cost of maintenance and equipment, Sinar Harian reported.

“We do not intend to collect charges at other historic buildings that have been gazetted except at the Traditional Games Museum (Bukit Melawati),” he said.

He added that among the heritage buildings that have been gazetted include the King Abdullah Building in Klang and Istana Bandar, Banting temporary Leprosy Hospital and the dredger heritage museum in Dengkil.

In the meantime, Borhan said, Selangor is ready to become a hub for local art activists to highlight cultural identity and personality equivalent to the contribution of other fields.

“Selangor is open to making the state a cultural hub so that we can make a big impact not only on the state’s economy but the nation.”
