The appointments were made in line with the Standing Orders 68 to 71 of the Selangor Legislative Assembly 1965.

During the announcement, Azmin led the Opposition in staging a walkout, claiming the Speaker and the state government had violated an agreement made during their earlier meetings.

He claimed the composition of some of the committees did not reflect the high number of Opposition lawmakers in the House, arguing that all the committees should have at least three Perikatan Nasional members.

Azmin also complained that some of the names proposed by the Opposition had been removed from the final list.

However, Lau said this is subject to his final decision, adding that as per democracy, the members of the assembly have the right to make the final vote.
