Floods: 587 displaced statewide as of this morning

SHAH ALAM, Nov 6 — The number of flood victims in Selangor seeking shelter in temporary relief centres (PPS) have increased this morning, following heavy rains in several areas yesterday. 

Smart Selangor Operation Centre (SSOC) disaster management unit said 587 individuals from 156 families are currently are currently placed at seven PPS statewide. 

This is a slight increase compared to the 579 victims as of midnight. 

Specifically, a spokesperson from the unit said the increase involved the Dewan Kampung Dato Ahmad Razali in Sepang. 

“The SSOC will continue to monitor and take follow-up actions following the flooding,” he told Selangorkini. 

Continuous rain yesterday caused floods in parts of the Hulu Langat, Sepang and Petaling districts, forcing seven PPS to be activated to shelter displaced victims. 

They are the Sekolah Kebangsaan Bangi, SK Semenyih, Dewan Komuniti Taman Gemilang, Dewan Kampung Dato Ahmad Razali, Dewan Majlis Pengurusan Komuniti Kampung Jenderam Hilir, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dengkil and Dewan Serbaguna Camelia Height.
