MyMinda records over 17,000 mental health screenings in less than a month

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 — A total of 17,300 mental health screenings have been recorded as of November 15, less than a month since the MyMinda module on the MySejahtera application was introduced on October 21, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said of the total, 23 per cent or 3,983 of those screened showed risks of depression, while 15 per cent or 2,592 were found to have a risk for anxiety.

“Individuals with these risks have direct access through MyMinda to get counselling,” she said dring the question and answer session.

She was replying to a supplementary question from Parit Sulong MP Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad regarding the achievement of the MyMinda module since its implementation.

Replying to Noraini’s original question about the operational status and achievement of the National Centre of Excellence for Mental Health, Dr Zaliha said the mental health crisis hotline or Heal Line 15555 had recorded 26,139 calls regarding mental health thus far.

Dr Zaliha said the number comprised 16,942 callers who received emotional support assistance and 9,197 clients who received specific intervention by counselling psychology officers.

She added that 217 cases of suicidal behaviours were also recorded, with all those who attempted to commit suicide having received intervention counselling and taken to hospital.
