SHAH ALAM, Nov 1 — Applications for the state’s MamaKerja Incentive programme were temporarily disrupted less than an hour after going live this morning, following an overwhelming public response that caused the registration site to crash.

State executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari said she received reports of high traffic on the Selangkah mobile app and the MamaKerja portal.

Selangkah, the state’s public health initiative platform, is in the midst of resolving the issue, she added.

“Any inconvenience faced by applicants is truly regretted. Further announcements will be made as soon as possible.”

On October 26, Anfaal announced that the Selangor government had launched MamaKerja, a childcare incentive for working women, as part of its effort to increase their participation in the workforce and in recognition of their role in the state’s economic development

The initiative provides RM1,000 in financial aid to 5,000 working mothers to subsidise the cost of childcare.

To qualify for the incentive, applicants must be employed, are Selangor citizens and voters, have at least three children aged 12 and below, and have a household income of not more than RM8,000.

Applicants must also have an account with the Inland Revenue Board or Employees Provident Fund (EPF), and are not current beneficiaries of the state’s Asus Pintar, Tunas and Bingkas programmes.

Those interested will need to upload several documents, namely their identification cards and that of their partners, MyKid or child’s birth certificate, copy of latest payslip for both parents, EPF or EA statement, copy of bank statement, and document verifying they are Selangor voters.

Qualified applications will receive the financial aid through their respective bank account within 14 working days after their successful registration.

Applications were opened to the public beginning 10am today, before Anfaal issued her statement notifying of the service disruption at 10.56am.
