SHAH ALAM, Nov 12 — The Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS) will fully utilise the RM8 million allocation granted under the 2024 Selangor Budget to prepare its contingent for the Malaysian Games (Sukma) in Sarawak next year.

Its executive director, Mohamad Nizam Marjugi, is determined to meet the athletes’ needs and enable them to compete against states with substantial allocations and were champions at this year’s Sukma.

“On behalf of MSNS, I express the highest gratitude to the state government for acknowledging and showing concern for sports development of in the state.

“The allocation will be optimally utilised to prepare for Sukma 2024. Although 37 sports are to be competed in, the highest ever held, we will ensure all the contingent’s needs are met,” he said yesterday.

Nizam also welcomed the continuation of the Roda Darul Ehsan (RiDE) initiative since 2020, with participants receiving RM500 in cash and a RM50 contribution to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).

“This is indicative of the state government’s concern for the needs of p-hailing drivers, thereby ensuring no group is left behind when it comes to benefitting from government aid,” he said.

The 2024 Selangor Budget presented on Friday (November 10) also allocated RM10 million for the Selangor FC team to pursue the championship title in the Super League and Malaysia Cup.

Furthermore, RiDE, which previously focused on the p-hailing industry, will be expanded to e-hailing drivers, involving a RM1 million allocation.
